NCT New Century Transportation - Jevic Transportation -  Harry Muhlschlegel had thousands of employees or what modern managers like to call associates.  Harry founded and started Jevic Transportation to earn a living and support his family, but things got out of hand.  Harry in his own sweet way discovered the obvious operational miracle that the Harvard and Yale men couldn't trip over if you pointed at his secret.  The secret that Harry discovered and taught was something called non-intervention, in other words just leave it alone.

The non-intervention theory was simple; pick up the freight and then deliver the freight and never touch it in between.  It was so simple people didn't see it and it made Harry Muhlschlege a fortune and he deserved every penny.  Harry was a truck driver at heart but he had the mind of a business tycoon.  

He would take a cumbersome problem and within a few days it was an opportunity, a money making opportunity.  Operating in the North East meant snow and freezing weather so Harry put heaters on his trailers and serviced the thousands of customers that worried about freezing.  All this time Harry was thinking about his people, starting with his men and woman that everybody called truck drivers.  

He provided them with new equipment and chrome wheels and paid them over any national average, union or not.  He got them home and got them paid and as Jevic grew their customer base Harry provided more and more for his teams of drivers.  Nice facilities, quality supervisors and top notch freight that was on pallets and never had to be touched at pick up or delivery.  Harry had found the key's to paradise.

Yellow freight offered to buy up Jevic Transportation Delanco NJ after it was taken public through an IPO so Harry sold his baby but protected the people.  He wasn't going to the beach and he couldn't sit still so New Century Transportation was born in a matter of a few short years.  The same formula's were applied and Compliance, Profits, Services and Revenue Growth created another great motor freight carrier success. 

But something had changed on the trail, NCT New Century Transportation, a New Jersey based motor freight trucking company encountered too many obstacles to survive in the Obama Socialist economy.  Washington D.C. had changed all the rules but Harry was winning but markets were changing, driver even harder to find as Yellow discovered when they closed up the famous service carrier Jevic Transportation.  

The Chairman of New Century Transportation Harry Muhlschlegel should write his Autobiography as one of the most successful motor freight trucking capitalist in the United States. Many of the managers remember being taught motor freight trucking from Harry when they thought they knew everything.  You're the smartest man around until you meet the smartest man around name Harry Muhlschlegel.  

As one of his facility manager in the South Eastern United States (Atlanta GA) we took a folding table and one telephone to a multi-million dollar operation in a dozen months or so, it was remarkable.  

Still influenced by the free enterprise system Harry Muhlschlegel is not only optimistic about change he's  almost romantic about operating a good business with great people.  

Every facility is full of top notch people that cared about Harry and cared about Harry's customers.  The culture of his trucking companies was a direct reflection of Harry's love for people, machines and process combined.  He knew what he knew and he always taught what he knew, they were no secrets, just performance.  Right or wrong Harry was with you so you could use his strength and he allowed you to use his visions, principles and strength, the combination was a magic company always moving forward together.

Harry was the founder and owner of JEVIC Transportation which held to the philosophy that men-machines-money and methods properly utilized could improve truck driver working conditions, improve the standard services offered to shippers and consignees and create a revolution within the motor freight industry, create a profit,  and he was right.

Harry was smart enough to change when the changing was good and he cared enough about his customers and employees to always take them along.  By this time Harry was worth millions of dollars but he was more comfortable talking to that one driver or that one dock guy or office associate.  He knew the numbers and he knew how to create the conditions to satisfy people, promises and develop profits.   When it was said and done Harry was you mentor, coach, teacher or father so he met people on their terms and never talked down but inspired the absolute best from them.

Harry, renowned and determined launched his JEVIC transportation and brought all his men and women together, bought the best machines and developed his own LTL TL OTR industrial trucking religion.   After Jevic it was New Century and his pacesetter ideas, machines, people and process always worked for customers, investors and employees. 

His pigheadedness became a philosophy and his words became the policy and his belief in people and the brotherhood he created inside JEVIC and New Century created a pacesetter carrier while other name branded carriers bungled about everything and committed business suicide.  Yellow Freight bought out the industry with borrowed money and thousands of trucking companies closed but the few that were taught by Harry direct lived on inside other organizations, teaching what they discovered from Harry. 

He was smart enough to combine the human knowledge driving down the road that other trucking companies just called truck drivers.  He would spend millions of dollars on computers but refused to learn about Microsoft email.  His own necessity to work taught other men the old-fashioned half-mad ethic of working for a living.  If you didn't love to work you wouldn't love Harry but Friday night he fed everybody and told a joke or two but the trucks never stopped, the phones always answered, the drivers always had coffee and the customers always had excellent services. 

As Harry Muhlschlegel was teaching the reality of trucking at JEVIC and New Century Transportation the non-working aristocrats of the big brands struggled to make payroll, tried to keep their old trucks running, had to deal with unions and their lazy members working the docks, fixing the trucks, delivering the loads a day late. 

The old timers at JEVIC shared the greatest wealth and that was in being able to learn directly from Harry.  Harry had a talent to reorganize your ideas and thoughts into positive and productive actions.  Each man or woman was rewarded in proportion to each person's contribution and not by the familiar political games that stressed most companies.
